Alyssa Baumann is one of six finalists for the annual AAI Award.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida senior gymnast Alyssa Baumann is one of the six finalists for the 2021 AAI Award. The American Athletic Inc. honors one senior student-athlete each year from NCAA Division I women's gymnastics.
AAI will announce the winner next month at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships' awards banquet in Fort Worth, Texas.
The five-time All-American is two-time defending Southeastern Conference balance beam champion. She won the 2018 title with the second-highest SEC balance beam score (9.975) in the meet's 38-year history. In 2019, Baumann became the first gymnast in 21 years to win consecutive beam titles.
Baumann competed in her first and only all-around of her Gator career versus Kentucky earlier this season and posted a total of 39.65 - the Gators' highest ever all-around debut score.
An active member of Florida's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Baumann is the SAAC vice-president for 2020-21 academic year.

The Gators travel to the SEC Championship meet in Huntsville, Ala. The meet is Saturday, March 20 in the Von Braun Center. Florida competes in the evening session which airs on the SEC Network at 8 p.m. ET.
