GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Performing in front of a packed Exactech Arena will have to wait—because Dulcy Caylor of Spring, Texas, is chasing something even bigger.
The newly signed Gator gymnast is deferring her enrollment at the University of Florida until fall 2028 to pursue her ultimate dream: representing Team USA at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Caylor officially signed with Gator gymnastics earlier this month, fresh off an impressive run at the FIG World Championships in Indonesia, where she advanced to the all-around, balance beam, and floor exercise finals.
"Representing Team USA at the 2028 Olympics is my dream, and I'm giving it everything I have. I've chosen to defer my enrollment at the University of Florida until fall 2028 so I can stay focused on that goal," Caylor said. "I'll keep training hard in Spring, Texas, cheering on the Gators every step of the way, and I can't wait for the day I run through the Gatorhead and meet the Florida fans in the 2029 season."
"We fully support Dulcy as she pursues her 2028 Olympic dreams," Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland said. "She's an extraordinary young woman with an unwavering work ethic and we know she'll be cheering for the Gators every step of the way until she joins us in fall 2028."
Caylor will continue sharpening her skills at World Champions Centre, keeping her sights set on future international assignments with Team USA. Her next stop on the competition floor comes at the U.S. Gymnastics Winter Cup, set for Feb. 20–22 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.
