Florida Tied for Ninth After First Round in Georgia

The Gators sit 8-over par at the conclusion of the first round in Athens.
ATHENS, Ga. – The Florida women's golf team sits in a tie for ninth at the conclusion of the first round at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic after posting an 8-over 296 card.
The Gators flirted with the top four spots on the leaderboard for the majority of the round before facing setbacks on the back nine.
Marina Escobar and Lauren Waidner paced the way for Florida after both finishing with 1-over par scorecards. They currently sit in a tie for 20th place heading into Saturday's round.
Freshman Maisie Filler, who made her debut in the top spot of the Gators lineup, finished the day one stroke off of her Gators teammates and tied for 26th individually.
Elin Esborn and Jenny Kim rounded out the Gators lineup, posting 4-over par and 7-over par scores respectively.
Florida will tee it up tomorrow morning in the second round.
