Gators Finish Ninth at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

The Florida women’s golf team posted a 43-over par 907 to finish ninth in Athens.
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Florida women's golf team concluded competition today at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, posting a 43-over par 907 to claim ninth place in the elite field.
The UGA Golf Course proved to be tough terrain with the first-place team posting a 17-over par score through three rounds.
Lauren Waidner led the way for the Gators, both in the final round and overall. Waidner carded the low round of the day for Florida – posting a 1-over par 73. The senior used her final round success to propel her into the top-20, finishing tied for 16th place individually.
Marina Escobar was next in line for Florida. After struggling on the front-nine, the sophomore doubled-down and after recording a bogey on the 10th hole, posted even par to finish the day 7-over. Individually, she tied for 36th.
Freshman Maisie Filler battled the tough course eloquently, posting a 4-over par scorecard in the final round and 13-over par overall. Jenny Kim sat one stroke behind her Gators teammate after a 5-over par final round. The duo finished tied for 40th and 44th, respectively.
Elin Esborn rounded out the Florida lineup, posting a 24-over par 240 to finish tied for 78th individually.
