
Two NCAA Leads Highlight Gators’ Outdoors Opener

TALLAHASEE, Fla. – The Gators finished day two of their outdoor season opener Friday at the Mike Long Track in Tallahassee with several Top-10 NCAA times and marks, including NCAA-leading performances in the men's 100 meters and women's triple jump.
Redshirt freshman Joseph Fahnbulleh got off to a strong start in his outdoor collegiate career, posting an NCAA-leading time of 10.08 seconds in the 100 meters. The Hopkins, Minnesota native ranks sixth in the world and is tied for seventh on UF's Outdoor All-Time Top 10 list.
Meanwhile, redshirt senior Natricia Hooper leads the nation in the triple after posting a mark of 13.63 meters (44 feet, 8.75 inches) Friday afternoon. A new personal best for Hooper, her mark also ranks fourth in school history.
On the men's side of the jumps, senior Clayton Brown made his 2021 season debut with the third-best triple jump mark in the nation. The St. Andrew, Jamaica native took a leap of 16.57 meters (54 feet, 4.25 inches) to improve his outdoor personal best and rank seventh in school history.
Back on the track, redshirt junior Taylor Manson clocked at a time of 52.02 seconds in the 400 meters to land on the No. 2 spot of this year's NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying list.
Meanwhile in the women's 100 meters, redshirt freshman Semira Killebrew crossed in 11.33, followed by newcomer Talitha Diggs with a time of 11.36 seconds. Killebrew ranks tied for fourth in the nation and eighth in school history, while Diggs ran the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA this year and ranks 10th on UF's Outdoor All-Time Top 10 list.
Redshirt senior Denzel Villaman represented the Gators in the 400-meter hurdles, while redshirt sophomore Trevor Foley headlined the Gators' distance corps. Villaman finished second in his event with a time of 50.85 seconds, while Foley posted a new personal-best time of 3:47.20 in the 1,500 meters. Both Gators rank fourth nationally in their respective events.
Dedrick Vanover also contributed to Florida's bundle of top-10 NCAA performances with a sixth-place time on the NCAA Division I Outdoor Qualifying list. The redshirt junior joined Fahnbulleh in the 100 meters early in the day to post a new personal-best time of 10.29 seconds.
Other notable performances included new personal records by Marshall Dillon (1:51.10) and Dalton Brown (1:51.90) in the 800 meters, Nick Deal (3:52.61), Maria Fernandez (4:42.78) and Emily Jones (4:48.58) in the 1,500 meters and Jacob Miley (48.21) and Alissa Braxton (12.20 meters / 40 feet, 0.50 inches) in the 400 meters and triple jump, respectively.

The Gators are back action next week when the host this year's Pepsi Florida Relays Friday and Saturday at Percy Beard Track, located inside James G. Pressly Stadium.
