
Gators Shine in First Day of SEC Championship

Florida is tied for fourth at the conclusion of the first round of play.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida women's golf team kicked off play at the 2021 SEC Championship today, posting a 9-under par 279 to sit in a tie for fourth place heading into tomorrow's round.
Addie Baggarly led the way for the Gators, posting a 4-under par 68 and finishing the day tied for 13th individually. The senior was stellar through the entire round, recording five birdies and only one bogey through her first 18 holes, including back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes.
Sophomore Annabell Fuller sits a stroke behind Baggarly, finishing the day 3-under par after recording a birdie on the 15th hole to enter the top 20.
Marina Escobar finished one stroke behind her Gators teammates, posting a 2-under par 70 and tied for 24th. Escobar recorded a clean front-nine, carding two birdies and no bogeys as she made the turn. The sophomore recorded another birdie on the 12th hole and only one bogey the entire round to enter the top 25.
Freshman Maisie Filler made her SEC debut in style, carding a birdie on the 14th and 18th hole on the back-nine to finish even on the day.
Lauren Waidner rounded out the Gators lineup, posting a 3-over par 75 to tie for 55th individually entering the second round of play.
The Gators will head back to the course tomorrow at 9:50 a.m. ET to compete in the second round. Fans can follow along with the live stats at Golfstat.com.
