Carter's Corner: Defensive Duo to Join Mullen at SEC Media Days

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators' record-setting offense owned the headlines during the 2020 season.
The defense takes a turn in the spotlight on Monday on the first day of the Southeastern Conference Football Media Days.
The SEC announced Wednesday afternoon that UF head coach Dan Mullen will be joined by linebacker Ventrell Miller and defensive lineman Zachary Carter in Hoover, Ala., as the Gators make a stop at the league's preseason kickoff event. You can check out the league's list of attendees here.
Unlike previous years, the SEC is limiting each school to two players instead of three as part of its ongoing COVID-19 protocols.
Miller and Carter are both fifth-year seniors expected to play key roles on a defense seeking to rebound in 2021. Miller finished last season with a team-leading 88 tackles and Carter led the Gators in sacks (5.0) and tackles-for-loss (9.5).
Meanwhile, the Gators are participating in preseason photo shoots this week and several uniform changes have been revealed: Carter has switched from No. 17 to No. 6, receiver Jacob Copeland has changed from 15 to 1, quarterback Anthony Richardson from 2 to 15, receiver Justin Shorter from 89 to 4, and tight end Kemore Gamble from 88 to 2.
The Gators open preseason camp next month and open the season at home Sept. 4 against Florida Atlantic.
