Tuesday, September 28, 2021 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Aleshia Ocasio, a former two-time NFCA All-American within the Florida softball program from 2015-2018, dominated the 2021 Athletes Unlimited season to become only the league's second champion.
Ocasio capped the five-week season in the league's final game late Monday evening at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Joining Ocasio atop the leaderboard was Kelsey Stewart, a two-time All-American for the Gators from 2013-2016. Stewart finished the year with 1,612 points and a 3rd place finish.
Amanda Lorenz, Jordan Roberts, Aubree Munro and Michelle Moultrie rounded out the Gators representation in the league this season. Lorenz finished 11th (1,404 points) and Roberts placed 21st (1,304 points), while Moultrie (1,080 points) and Munro (990 points) finished 33rd and 43rd respectively.
Also, the league announced its first Athletes Unlimited All-Defensive Team. The duo of Ocasio and Lorenz both garnered spots after they produced highlight plays over the five-week span.

About Athletes Unlimited Softball
We believe the traditional model of pro sports is not built to bring out the best in athletes, or to deliver the most to its fans. So we developed an all-new model for pro athletes and sports – and for you. We are using this innovative player-centric model to create leagues across sports. Our Softball, Volleyball and Lacrosse leagues have been a success, and we have more exciting ventures on the horizon.
Athletes compete in innovative versions of their sports. The games you love have not changed, but our new scoring system recognizes both team and individual play. The games are faster, and individual players score points to move up and down our leaderboard. Each week, the four players atop the leaderboard become team captains and draft teams for the next week of competition. At the end of the season, the player leading in the standings is crowned Athletes Unlimited Champion.
Pro sports fans want faster, more exciting, and more meaningful games – and to engage with the players they love. We maximize fan excitement and engagement. With our innovative scoring system, points and winnings are always in play. There is no lull in the action and fans track it all in real time. By focusing on women's sports, these athletes have more opportunities, and fans have more access to these exciting games. We bring what fans love about fantasy sports into reality with weekly drafts and our innovative individual leaderboard.
Athletes Unlimited athletes, already world-class in their sports, want more opportunity, and more control of their careers. So we eliminated team owners and empowered athletes as leaders and decision-makers.
