Gators In The NFL: Wild Card Weekend
Wednesday, January 19, 2022 | Football
GAINESVILLE, FL – The NFL Playoffs are here and quite a few Gators find themselves still alive for the Lombardi Trophy hunt.
It's the NFL playoffs.
Every snap matters. Every player matters. Every moment matters. The Super Bowl awaits.
Twenty-two Gators are in the postseason across 12 teams. All with one goal in mind: bring home the Lombardi Trophy.
Gators find themselves competing against each other.
Last night in Los Angeles, Rams' wide receiver Van Jefferson went head-to-head with Cardinals' rookie cornerback Marco Wilson. Each won their battles. But it was Jefferson who sealed the deal. Jefferson's 41-yard grab helped put the game away in a dominant 34-11 Rams win over the Cardinals.
Next, LA will face the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa Sunday.
Special Teams Highlights
In Cincinnati, Money Mac is in full force.
Bengals' rookie Kicker Evan McPherson continued his historic first season into the playoffs. McPherson was perfect on Saturday going 2-for-2 on extra points and nailing all four of his field goal attempts, connecting from 28, 30, 31 and 43 yards away. His 12 points on field goals was the difference in a 26-19 Bengals win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
He's the first Bengals kicker to make three or more field goals in a postseason game in 33 years. He's now 32-for-37 (86.4%) on field goals and 48-for-50 (96%) on point after tries. McPherson looks to keep his hot streak going Saturday in Tennessee for a Divisional Round battle with the Titans.
