Bell spent last season as a director of player personnel for the Gators.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Corey Bell was appointed to the role of quality control - running backs by head coach Billy Napier on Friday.
He rejoined the Gators staff prior to the 2021 season as director of player personnel after three seasons (2018-20) as the cornerbacks coach at UCF. Bell also spent the 2017 season as Florida's secondary coach, arriving from Florida Atlantic where was the secondary coach and director of player personnel from 2014-16. He served as the director of football operations for Miami football from 2007-10.
Bell was a successful head coach in the Sunshine State at American Senior (2011-13) and Miami Edison (1997-07). Prior to his arrival in 2011, American had not won a district title since 1998, he led the Patriots to three-straight district titles.
At 25 years old, he was named the head coach of Edison, becoming the youngest head coach in the state at the time. His tenure there included 84 division I signees, six All-Americans, and five-consecutive playoff appearances with three-straight district titles.
The Miami native played football at South Carolina, graduating in 1995 and was two-year varsity letterman and starting cornerback.
