Brown Jr. Named Senior Director of Player Development and Alumni Relations

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida head football coach Billy Napier announced Thursday that Vernell Brown Jr. has been promoted to senior director of player development and alumni relations.
Brown Jr., who joined the Gators staff in 2018 as director of student-athlete development, will continue to play a key role in the program, serving as a lead for personal development, mental health, and collegiate affairs for current athletes.
A Gators football alumnus, Brown Jr. will serve as a bridge between current athletes and former players. He will also assist in creating connections between University of Florida and University Athletic Association personnel and current players to create a network of support.
A Gainesville native and a University of Florida graduate (2005), Brown Jr. played cornerback for the Gators from 2001-05 and appeared in 45 games with throughout his career.
Brown Jr., who also served as team captain during his playing days, was once referred to as the "Face of Florida Football" due his tireless work ethic and leadership characteristics.
