SEC Network & ESPN Reveal 2022 Softball TV Schedule
Tuesday, February 8, 2022 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tuesday afternoon, ESPN and the SEC Network announced the television schedule for the 2022 regular season. No. 6-ranked Florida, scheduled to appear 14 times across the ESPN family of networks, holds a record of 105-39 (.729) when playing on network television since 2014.
"Every year our sport grows and more interest is gained due to the increased exposure we have from the SEC Network and all of the networks in the ESPN family." Head Coach Tim Walton said. "Last season our sport had another major milestone as the first ever collegiate softball game was showcased on ABC. Opportunities such as that are more valuable than most might assume, so we are extremely thankful for every opportunity we have to expand the visibility of the sport of softball."
SEC Network is slated for nearly 60 games featuring the conference's 13 softball squads, as well as wall-to-wall live coverage of the 2022 SEC Softball Tournament, set for May 10-14 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. New this year is T-Mobile's presenting sponsorship for softball on SEC Network. The late afternoon games on Saturday and Sunday during the regular season, as well as the SEC Softball Tournament, will be presented by the Un-carrier.
This year the program returns a plethora of players from last year's squad, which includes a trio of NFCA All-Americans in third baseman Charla Echols (Newnan, Ga.), second baseman Hannah Adams (Hoschton, Ga.) and right-handed pitcher Elizabeth Hightower (Monticello, Fla.). The three standouts anchor a group of 16 returning contributors from last season, along with the addition of 2021 transfer Skylar Wallace and six newcomers.
Entering their first year with the program is graduate transfer, right-handed pitcher Marissa Mesiemore (Bushnell, Fla.), and a talented group of freshmen in catcher Cali Decker (Lake Mary, Fla), right-handed pitcher Lexie Delbrey (Bainbridge, Ga.), outfielder Kendra Falby (Odessa, Fla.), catcher Sam Roe (Destin, Fla.) and infielder Reagan Walsh (Redondo Beach, Calif.). Roe joined the program this January as an early enrollee and Mesiemore is a graduate transfer from FGCU.
Florida opens its 2022 season Friday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m. against Illinois State in Tampa, Fla. at USF's tournament. The program's first home game is set for Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. against Jacksonville.
