Marina Escobar shot a career low 67 (-5) to lead after round one of the SEC Championship as Florida is tied for second.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Marina Escobar started day one of the postseason strong with a career low as the Florida women's golf team is tied for second after round one of the SEC Championship on Wednesday.
Escobar leads the field behind a 67 (-5) as the Gators (+1) are a stroke behind team leader Auburn (E). The native of Almeria, Spain, started the day with three consecutive birdies and finished with a tournament-leading eight. She shaved one stroke off her career-low, which came at last year's conference championship. The junior bounced back after bogeys to close the front nine and went 4-under bogey free on the back.
Right outside the top-10, Annabell Fuller sits T11 at 1-over. She is tied for fourth among competitors with 13 pars.
The next three in the lineup - Maisie Filler (T22), Jackie Lucena (T33), Clara Manzalini T49) - all ended within a few strokes of one another.
