Florida Baseball Places 11 Gators on MLB Opening Day Rosters

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With the 2022 Major League Baseball season set to begin on Thursday, 11 former Gators can be found on Opening Day rosters across the league.
Florida's 11 players on MLB Opening Day rosters ranks second nationally and in the Southeastern Conference.
The Gators are represented on nine different teams across the MLB, including four playoff clubs from the previous campaign. Highlighting the 2022 group is reigning National League Rookie of the Year Jonathan India, two-time returning Home Run Derby champion Pete Alonso and 2021 All-Star catcher Mike Zunino.
Across the program's history, Florida has produced 77 MLB players. 25 Gators have debuted from head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's tenure, while a grand total of 95 of O'Sullivan's players have had their names called on draft day.
