GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida golfer Annabell Fuller qualified for a spot in the 77th U.S. Women's Open on Monday.
Playing at Mark Bostick Golf Course, she finished as the Co-Medalist shooting a 137 (-3). The Gator started off strong with a 66 (-4), which tied her collegiate low she set in the spring opener this season. She highlighted her first round with an eagle on 12 and then closed with a birdie on 18 as she only had one bogey. The qualifying featured a set of 36 holes on one day as the junior had a 71 (+1) in the final round.
This will be the second major championship that Fuller will compete in as she made her debut in the Women's British Open last year. She was one of the three amateurs to make the cut as she shot 1-under 71 in round one highlighted by a bogey free back nine. Playing at the Carnoustie Golf Links - one of the toughest links courses - Fuller erased a bumpy start to her round two with three birdies on the final nine to end 2-under. In her final round, the Gator dominated the back nine again with her third outing under-par (-1).
Qualifying for the 77th U.S. Women's Open is being conducted over 36 holes at locations in 17 U.S. states plus three international sites between April 19-May 16.
The event is scheduled for June 2-5 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
