Two Gators Compete in FINA World Championships Day 3 Finals

Katie Ledecky earns gold; Kieran Smith finishes sixth.
 
BUDAPEST, Hungary – The Gators continued their impressive showing at the FINA World Championships, collecting another gold medal on day three.
 
Katie Ledecky took first in the 1,500m free final, while Kieran Smith finished sixth in the 200m free final.
 
Bobby Finke swam in the 800m free prelim during the morning session, earning him a spot in Tuesday afternoon's final.
 
Men's 200m Free Final
Kieran Smith touched the wall in 1:45.16, finishing sixth in the 200m free final. This was his second final of the world championships.
 
Women's 1,500m Free Final
Volunteer Coach Katie Ledecky won the 1,500m free final, finishing nearly 14 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. She touched the wall in 15:30.15 for her 17th gold medal.
 
Men's 800m Free Prelim
Bobby Finke earned his spot in Tuesday's final after finishing sixth in the 800m free prelim with a swim of 7:46.36.
 
Tuesday's prelims are set to begin at 3 a.m. ET, followed by finals at 12 p.m. ET. The finals can be viewed on NBCSports.
