Carter's Corner: Gators Set to Move Into New Facility, Napier's Press Conference, More Tidbits
Tuesday, August 9, 2022 | Football, Scott Carter
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Gators are set for their sixth practice of preseason camp this afternoon and the first in full gear.
UF head coach Billy Napier addressed the media late Tuesday morning. The biggest news from the press conference is that the Gators will move into the $85-million Heaven Football Training Center on Sunday.
The standalone football facility features new coaches offices, meeting rooms, a cafeteria, barber shop and modernized weight room attached to the team's indoor practice facility. And much, much more.
Napier said the facility "screams commitment" from the administration and is a game-changer for the player experience.
A couple of other tidbits:
-- Napier said redshirt freshman quarterback Jack Miller III took some first-team reps on Monday and has flashed the ability to contribute behind starter Anthony Richardson. Meanwhile, Napier praised third-team QB Jalen Kitna for his development since the spring. "I think we've got two players there that can play winning football, and working to get a third one ready,'' Napier said of the quarterbacks. Kitna underwent a "small [medical] procedure" on Monday and is expected to return according to Napier.

"We didn't get the five-star. We had to project. We had to teach football at a much different level, and I think it made us better coaches."
