GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Wide Receiver Eugene Wilson III has been named to the 2023 On3 True Freshman All-American Team. Wilson III played in 10 games this season, including seven starts at wide out, breaking out as one of Florida's most effective offensive weapons.
 
Wilson III finished his freshman campaign ranking second multiple receiving categories for Florida, including receptions (61) and yards (538), and leading Florida's offense in receiving touchdowns (six).
 
The Southeastern Conference had six players named to the list, however Wilson III is the only player tabbed from the SEC East. Wilson was the leader of Florida's youth movement in 2023, as Florida got 37 total starts from their freshmen, which was second in the SEC East.
 
Wilson III also ranked highly nationally among freshmen, leading all FBS true freshmen in receptions per game (6.1) while ranking second in receptions, tied for second in receiving TDs, fourth in receiving yards per game (53.8) and fourth in receiving yards. 
 
Wilson III became the first Florida true freshman to eclipse 500 receiving yards since Antonio Callaway in 2015, who holds the UF freshman receiving record with 678 yards. In Week 9 vs. Georgia, Wilson III set a UF freshman record with 11 receptions, and the following week against Arkansas became the first true freshman to record multiple touchdowns in a contest since Riley Cooper recorded three vs. Western Carolina on Nov. 18, 2006.
