Tuesday, February 28, 2023 | Football
The former Florida offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach guided the Eagles as their quarterbacks coach to Super Bowl LVI.
After lighting up the scoreboard as the offensive coordinator for the Orange and Blue, Brian Johnson has made it at the pro level.

Before he chose to stay in Philadelphia, Johnson received a ton interest from teams around the league.
Brian Johnson interviewed with many teams, impressed, and hadoffers on the table. In the end, he wanted to stay with Jalen Hurts and help run Philly's offense.

Johnson will be a head coaching candidate around the league in the future. https://t.co/g4CwrjZl5D
Johnson spent two seasons as Gators quarterback coach in 2018 and 2019 – helping groom Kyle Trask into an eventual Heisman finalist.
As Florida's OC in 2020, Johnson took the Gators offense to the next level, averaging 39.8 points per game. He helped Trask break records – his 43 touchdown passes still stands as a single-season school record and led the nation in 2020.
It's fun to see where that impressive 2020 offense is today:
- Brian Johnson - Philadelphia Eagles OC
- Kyle Trask – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Kadarius Toney - Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl Champion)
- Kyle Pitts - Atlanta Falcons
- Dameon Pierce - Houston Texans
- Malik Davis - Dallas Cowboys
- Stone Forsythe - Seattle Seahawks
In his first year in Philly, Johnson had the chance to work with first-year starter Jalen Hurts. The two instantly built a close connection – one that dates back more than a decade. In fact, Hurts' father, Averion, coached Johnson in high school when Hurts was just 4 years old.
In 2022, the two soared to incredible heights. Hurts became an MVP finalist and the Eagles, with their high-flying offense, were crowned NFC Champions.

"He is going to be a star one day. He is going to be a big-time head coach one day. It's definitely just the beginning for both of us."

Now as offensive coordinator, Johnson and Hurts will continue to grow together in Philly. After last season's success, they have their sights set on one thing: the Lombardi Trophy.
But for Johnson, it likely won't be long before he gets a chance at running his own team as head coach.
