GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida-Georgia game is one of the great rivalries in college football.
The Gators can't stand the Bulldogs. And the Bulldogs can't stand the Gators. That's the way it should be.
The annual game is making news for other reasons this week following a radio interview by Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry on Wednesday.
TIAA Bank Field, which hosts the annual game, is set for some major renovations in the not-so-distant future according to Curry. What would that mean for the Florida-Georgia game?
Brings back memories of when the Jaguars joined the NFL and the old Gator Bowl was torn down and replaced by what is now known as TIAA Bank Field. The schools played in Gainesville in 1994 and in Athens in 1995. They returned to Jacksonville in '96 and every game in the series has been played there since.
Another question: Where would the Jags play for two seasons? Could Ben Hill Griffin Stadium be an option?
Gators athletic director Scott Stricklin said that possibility is at least worth a conversation.
