GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dan Cross was one of the most decorated players in Florida basketball history, as well as a trailblazer as far showing the Gators how good they could be and how far they could go. Cross, a two-time first-team All-Southeastern Conference point guard, guided the program to its first Final Four in 1994 and eventually graduated with a telecommunications degree.
"UF was the best four years of my life," Cross said.
Now both his son and daughter can say the same thing.
On Thursday, Rachel Cross walked the commencement stage to her degree in Health Science. Her stroll came just six months after Daniel Cross Jr., a walk-on wide receiver for the Florida football team, did his graduation walk to a degree in journalism.
That's two Gator grads in the same academic year for one true Gator Great.

Great job, DC. Great job Rachel and Daniel in adding to the Cross/UF legacy.
"To see the next Cross generation follow the blueprint and footsteps has been an unbelievable feeling that is hard to put into words," said the proud father. "Just very thankful and grateful for the opportunity that the University of Florida has provided to my family. It's been the ultimate experience of a lifetime! Go Gators!
Daniel, who is entering his final season with the football squad, is currently enrolled in the UF sports management master's program, while Rachel is headed for law school at Florida International University.
Cross, now 49 and living in Orlando, remains the No. 16 scorer in UF history with 1,641 points. He was inducted in the UF Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 and was honored as Florida's "SEC Legend" at the 2008 conference tournament.
