Phil Steele Tabs Eight Gators to 2023 Preseason All-SEC Team

Florida had four selections on offense, two on defense and special teams.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Phil Steele tabbed eight Florida football players to its 2023 Preseason All-SEC Teams, the publication announced Tuesday. One Gator was named to the second team with three on the third team and four on the fourth team.
Wider receiver Ricky Pearsall landed on the third-team offense with center Kingsley Eguakun. Pearsall returns as Florida's top receiver last year, hauling in 33 catches for 661 yards and five touchdowns in his first season as a Gator in 2022. Eguakun has started the last two seasons at center.
Running back and Freshman All-SEC selection Trevor Etienne and offensive lineman Austin Barber were named to the fourth-team offense. Etienne and Barber teamed up for the third-most productive offense in the nation and best in the conference in yards per carry (5.84). Florida ran the ball for an average of 213.7 yards per game in 2022, which ranked 16th in the FBS and third in the SEC.
Defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen was selected to the third team with cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. on the fourth-team defense. Umanmielen notched 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles a season ago, and Marshall Jr. led the team with eight breakups during his sophomore campaign.
Jeremy Crawshaw was placed on the second-team and long snapper Rocco Underwood on the fourth specialists' team. Crawshaw placed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line, averaging 47.94 yards per punt. Underwood was the starting long snapper lasts season and didn't record a botched snap and was also named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List, prestended to the nation's best long snapper.
Florida opens the 2023 season at Utah on Thursday, August 31st at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
