Carter's Corner: Swamp Kings, Cam Carroll, Player Personnel Promotions, More Tidbits
Saturday, August 19, 2023 | Football, Scott Carter
The windows at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium are being washed. Students are flowing back into town and clogging the sidewalks around campus. And the Gators held their second scrimmage of preseason camp on Friday.
Meanwhile, a glance at the calendar says that on a Thursday night in 12 days, the Gators will kick off the 2023 season at Utah to open their second season under head coach Billy Napier.

Napier is scheduled to speak to UF beat reporters this afternoon. Unfortunately for the Gators, he will be asked about another significant injury during preseason camp. Reports surfaced after Friday's scrimmage that running back Cam Carroll suffered a lower-body injury.
While injuries typically dominate the news cycle this time of camp when the starting quarterback is set — Napier named Graham Mertz the starter heading into the Utah game — an upcoming documentary on the Gators is drawing a lot attention.
"Swamp Kings" debuts Aug. 22 on Netflix and features four 45-minute episodes documenting the Gators under former head coach Urban Meyer.
Directed by Katharine English, the opening sentence of the tagline reads: College football is life in Florida, nowhere more apparent than in the extraordinary story of the Florida Gators from 2005 to 2010.
I plan to watch the series on Sunday and offer a review prior to the official release Tuesday.
Here is Netflix's trailer for the series:
