GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators head coach
Billy Napier met with the media Monday afternoon for the third time since the start of preseason camp.
The team has practiced six times since reporting on July 30 and had the day off Monday after practicing Saturday and Sunday. Napier opened by discussing how camp would get more intense this week following the acclimation period.
"Reality kind of settles in that there's only one way to get in condition to play this game,'' Napier said. "We can work on speed improvement. We can do conditioning tests. We can lift weights. We can do football activities in T-shirts, but I think you have to put the gear on and you gotta get on the field and start working against each other."
Meanwhile, Napier said the opening a practice in preseason camp the way he did on Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium would become an annual event.
