Florida Faces Pitt to Open NIT Season Tip-Off
Tuesday, August 8, 2023 | Men's Basketball
Florida will take on Pitt in Brooklyn on Nov. 22, as ESPN Events revealed the NIT Tip-Off bracket on Tuesday. The Gators will play at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The four-team event concludes on Nov. 24, with the Gators facing Baylor or Oregon State based on the first day's outcomes. The championship game will be at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN, while the third-place game will be at 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
The announcement solidifies the Gators' nonconference schedule for the upcoming season, which opens Nov. 6 and features six power-conference opponents.
Florida holds an all-time 3-4 mark against Pitt, but won the only meeting of the past 30 years with a 61-45 victory in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Orlando.
UF last competed in the Preseason NIT in Nov. 2002, finishing with a loss vs. Stanford and a win vs. #2 Kansas in the consolation game.
All-time, the Gators are 1-2 vs. Baylor and 1-0 vs. Oregon State, topping the Beavers in last season's Phil Knight Legacy in Portland.
