GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball program has announced an open practice is set to be held Friday, January 19, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Fans will have an opportunity to get a first look at the 2024 Gators as the practice will be free admission and open to the entire public. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with a scrimmage estimated to start shortly after.
In addition, head coach Tim Walton is scheduled to speak at the conclusion of the scrimmage around 6 p.m.
This year's squad features an equally balanced mix of returning standouts and talented newcomers.
The Orange & Blue returns 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Player of the Year Skylar Wallace along with All-SEC standouts in juniors Kendra Falby and Reagan Walsh. In addition, Avery Goelz, Emily Wilkie, Katie Kistler and Baylee Goddard return for their senior seasons.
This season the Gators also welcome a total of 11 newcomers to the program as seven freshmen and four transfers are set to make an impact this year. Ava Brown, Keagan Rothrock, Mia Williams, Alyssa Hovermale, Cassidy McLellan, Ariel Kowalewski and Olivia Miller are freshmen that were touted as the best signing class in the nation by Extra Innings Softball.
Also looking to make their mark on the upcoming season are transfers Jocelyn Erickson (Oklahoma), Korbe Otis (Louisville), Brooke Barnard (Ole Miss) and Mackenzie Wooten (Virginia).
The 2024 season is officially set to begin Feb. 9, at 5:30 p.m. (ET) when Florida will take on Oregon State in Tampa, Fla. at the USF-Rawlings Invitational that is hosted by USF.
