GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida lacrosse team will begin the season ranked No. 10 in the IWLCA Coaches Preseason Poll announced Monday morning. This is the teams fourth straight season being ranked inside the top 10 from the IWLCA publication.
The Gators outdid their previous ranking by two spots, as they were ranked 12th in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll earlier this month. Eight starters return from last season's team (
Theresa Bragg,
Paisley Eagan,
Catherine Flaherty,
Maggi Hall,
Liz Harrison,
Emily Heller,
Danielle Pavinelli and
Madison Waters) who went 17-4 winning the AAC conference championship, good for their ninth straight conference crown. UF made its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament in 2023, advancing to the second round.
Florida and James Madison (6th) were the only two teams to represent the AAC in these rankings. UF will host JMU on April 13.
The Gators will face some tough competition early, opening the regular season against three top 10 opponents all on the road. They will begin at No. 8 Loyola on Feb. 10, followed by trips to take on No. 3 North Carolina (Feb. 17) and No. 9 Maryland (Feb.24).
