On the heels of his first NBA title, Gator great Al Horford tips his 18th NBA season on Tuesday. and his seventh as a Boston Celtic. Horford is joined in the league by fellow Gators Bradley Beal, Dorian Finney-Smith and Tre Mann. In addition to playing alumni, Billy Donovan opens his 10th NBA season and his fifth with the Bulls, while former Gator staffer Mark Daigneault opens his fifth campaign leading the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Horford, a five-time NBA All-Star, became the 10th Gator to win an NBA title and the third to double as NCAA and NBA champion. He looks to continue a productive career that includes more than 16,000 points in regular season and playoff action.
Beal, a three-time All-Star, enters his second season with the Phoenix Suns and his 13th in the NBA. Like Horford, Beal has eclipsed the 16,000-point mark for his career, including two seasons averaging better than 30 points per game.
Dorian Finney-Smith enters his second full season with the Brooklyn Nets after joining them in a midseason trade from the Dallas Mavericks in 2022-23. Finney-Smith, the 2014 SEC Sixth Man of the Year, played his way from undrafted rookie to a long-time regular starter in the league and averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds last season.
Mann joined the Charlotte Hornets late last season where he started all 28 appearances and averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds while playing some of the most productive basketball of his NBA career.
In addition to this quartet, Gator fans will see another familiar face in Andrew Nembhard, who was at UF from 2018-20 and finished his career at Gonzaga before being drafted by the Indiana Pacers, where he enters his third season.
In addition to Florida's NBA presence, a strong contingent of Gators will also be competing in the G League again this season with rosters set to be finalized soon in advance of the league's Nov. 8 tip.
