Making his way to the dish in the 2024 Meet the Gators lineup is transfer infielder Landon Stripling, who joins the squad after a solid freshman campaign at Texas Tech. The Lawrenceville, Ga. product is set to rep No. 13 in Orange & Blue.
Stripling has already come through in the clutch for the Gators this fall, hitting a walk-off single against Jacksonville on Nov. 2 to secure a doubleheader sweep. Starting all four fall exhibition contests, he finished 2-for-6 with one double, one RBI and three walks.
In his solo season with the Red Raiders, Stripling played in 33 games (24 starts) while slashing .253/.361/.404 and drawing 17 free passes across 119 plate appearances for a healthy 14.3% walk rate. Stripling also accumulated four homers, three doubles, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored. Armed with advanced bat-to-ball skills, he fanned just 12 times all season long for a 10.1% strikeout rate.
Defensively, Stripling posted a .975 fielding percentage across 80 combined chances at first and second base. Off the field, he was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.
Before his time with Texas Tech, Stripling was heavily considered as a potential top-five-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft after a remarkable career at Parkview High School. Competing under Head Coach David Reynolds, he was part of the dominant Parkview program that claimed the regional and state titles in 2021. The Panthers again won the regional championship in 2022 and were the state runners-up in 2023.
In his senior season, Stripling slashed .430/.552/.826 with 13 home runs, one triple, seven doubles, 45 RBI and 43 runs en route to earning First Team All-State and First Team All-America honors. He also swiped two bags and fielded at a .975 clip on top of an unearthly 1.378 OPS.
Stripling played in 101 games across his four-year Parkview career, concluding with a .422/.539/.749 batting line. He totaled 19 home runs, 17 doubles, 83 RBI and 77 runs in addition to a .977 fielding percentage.
Also a skilled hurler as a prepster, Stripling was the Gwinnett County Pitcher of the Year in back-to-back seasons his junior and senior campaigns. As a senior, he won 10 of his 12 starts and delivered a 1.55 ERA.
Entering college, Stripling held status as Perfect Game's No. 76 player nationally as well as the No. 8 recruit in Georgia. Also competing for the TG DBacks Scout Team, he was PG Preseason All-Southeast Region from 2022-23 and was invited to the 2022 PG National Showcase. He was tabbed the Most Valuable Player of the 18U 2023 PG Southeast Elite Championship and earned mention on 25 different all-tournament teams at various PG events from 2018-2023.
Born in Winter Park, Fla., Landon is the son of Jason and Meghan Stripling. He has two brothers, Christian and Bryson.
