
Fall Ball: Softball Goes 3-0 In Week Two

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball program wrapped up the second week of its fall exhibition schedule on Sunday night, capping off a 3-0 weekend for the Orange & Blue. In the three victories, the Gators outscored their opponents 49-3.
Florida opened the weekend Friday in Jacksonville, defeating UNF 16-1 in 10 innings, before returning home on Sunday for a pair of five-inning games against Florida Southwestern and Mercer.
The Gators defeated the Buccaneers, 15-2, and the Bears, 18-0.

Up next, Florida has a pair of home exhibitions this week at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Gators host Saint Leo on Thursday at 6 p.m. and UCF on Friday at 6 p.m.
The team is hosting a canned food drive during the fall season and encourages fans to bring canned goods for their admission to all games.

Notables vs. UNF (Gators 16, UNF 1) – 10 innings:
- Mia Williams went a team-best 3-for-3 with two RBI, including a two-run home run, and drew two walks
- Ariel Kowalewski plated three runs, tied for a team-high, was 3-for-4 at the plate and recorded a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch
- Reagan Walsh led the Gators with three RBI against the Opsreys, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk
- Taylor Shumaker scored three runs, tied for a team-high, going 3-for-6 with a double and one RBI
- Kenleigh Cahalan was 2-for-4 with a double
- The Gators used all five pitchers, allowing just one run and two hits in 10 innings
- Keagan Rothrock pitched a team-high three innings, tallying five strikeouts and allowing just one hit
Notables vs. Florida SW (Gators 15, FSW 2) – 5 innings:
- Williams and Shumaker led the Gators at the plate, each going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs
- Alyssa Hovermale hit her first home run of the fall and went 2-for-2 with two runs
- Gabi Comia was 2-for-2 with one run
- Rothrock drove in two runs off a two-RBI single
- Cassidy McLellan drew a team-best two walks
- Shumaker had the Orange & Blue's sole stolen base
- Olivia Miller threw two scoreless innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts
Notables vs. Mercer (Gators 18, Mercer 0) – 5 innings
- Shumaker went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI
- Kendra Falby was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI
- Korbe Otis went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI
- Both Cahalan and Rylee Holtorf hit their first home runs of the fall
- Holtorf led the team with four RBI, going 2-of-3 at the plate
- Cahalan had three RBI and went 2-of-3 with three runs
- Williams plated three runs, tied with Shumaker for a team-best
- Williams and Brooke Barnard each recorded a stolen base
- The Gators used three pitchers, Katelynn Oxley, Kara Hammock and Rothrock, allowing just one hit in five innings and combining for seven strikeouts
- Oxley, who started against the Bears, recorded five strikeouts in three innings of work
