GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Down to 49 days until Opening Day of the 2025 campaign, the next Gator newcomer up to bat in our Meet the Gators series is Kenleigh Cahalan.
Cahalan, a junior transfer from Alabama, was a two-year starter at shortstop for the Crimson Tide, making 126 career starts. She will wear No. 31 for the Orange & Blue this season.
A 2024 All-Southeastern Conference Second Team selection as a sophomore, Cahalan led Alabama in batting average (.296), hits (55), doubles (8), triples (5) and multi-hit games (14).
She also ranked second on the team in slugging percentage (.425), walks (16), runs scored (25) and RBI (30).
The left-handed hitter opened her freshman season in 2023 on a 14-game hit streak, which was the longest by any freshman at Alabama to start their career.
She finished her freshman campaign as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-South Region Third Team selection.
Cahalan owns a career .290 batting average (113-for-390) with 65 runs scored, 24 doubles, five triples, nine home runs, 50 walks and 61 total RBI.
Coming out of high school, the Trussville, Ala., native, was ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the 2023 signing class by Perfect Game Softball. She also earned 2022 Alabama Miss Softball and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year honors.
Cahalan is pursuing her bachelor's degree in education sciences at Florida and plans to get her master's degree in sports management after graduation.
