Jenkins Receives D1Baseball Nod as Top JUCO Transfer

Rated as the No. 15 impact JUCO transfer pitcher, Jenkins was 7-5 with a .245 BAA and 9.5 K/9 at Santa Fe last season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – D1Baseball unveiled its rankings of the top-50 impact junior college transfer pitchers on Tuesday, with Gators right-hander Matthew Jenkins making the cut.

Slotting in at No. 15 overall, Jenkins came to UF from Santa Fe College in Gainesville. His ranking is good for sixth among SEC transfer hurlers. D1Baseball's rankings are based on a combination of each prospect's anticipated role and their current projected draft value.

In his lone season at Santa Fe, Jenkins made 16 appearances highlighted by two starts and posted a 7-5 record. Perhaps most impressive in his ability to miss bats, he commanded a high-90s fastball to produce 9.5 strikeouts per nine across 57 innings of work. Jenkins allowed just 53 hits on the year, translating to a .245 batting average against.

Although the 2025 season begins in February, Jenkins has already produced a scoreless outing at Condron Family Ballpark. Appearing in both fall exhibitions against Jacksonville and USF, Jenkins was one of six Gators to combine for a game one shutout of the Bulls. Following a 50-minute weather delay, Jenkins tossed a scoreless sixth inning with one strikeout and utilized a 4-6-3 double play to end the frame.
