Two Gators Earn SEC Honors for Play in Gators Invitational

Ian Gilligan and Jack Turner earned their first career SEC weekly awards.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two Florida men's golfers earned SEC recognition for their play at the Gators Invitational with Ian Gilligan awarded golfer and Jack Turner freshman of the week, the conference office announced.
Gilligan was instrumental in Florida's victory at its home tournament, shooting 10-under for the weekend. The junior from Reno, N.V., made 14 birdies and an eagle en route to a third-place finish. He shot all three rounds under par and in the 60's - 69-62-69. His bogey-free round two of 62, tied the program record for score last shot by Camilo Villegas in 2003.
Turner had a career low tournament score, shooting 205 (-5) to finish T6. The freshman averaged 3.92 on par-4's and 4.22 on par-5's and tied for the third most birdies (15) made. He shot his first two rounds under par, setting a new season low of 66.
The No. 16 Gators travel to Las Vegas this weekend to compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate from Feb. 25-27.
