Commencement Weekend for Gator Student-Athletes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Among the 3,000 who earn their University of Florida degrees this weekend are more than 30 Gator student-athletes.
Summer commencement ceremonies begin Friday, Aug. 9 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 10.
One spent the last couple of weeks in Paris for the 2024 Olympics:
One was part of a NCAA title team during his career:
Two won NCAA Individual titles:

- Emma Weyant – USA (400m individual medley bronze medalist)
One was part of a NCAA title team during his career:
- 2023 NCAA Golf – Joe Pagdin
Two won NCAA Individual titles:
- Micayla Cronk and Emma Weyant – 2024 NCAA 800 free relay
- Nine earned All-America honors – Micayla Cronk (swimming), Charla Echols (softball), Jayla Hollis (track & field), Brian Johnson (baseball), Victoria Nguyen (gymnastics), Olivia Peoples (swimming), Payton Richards (gymnastics), Emma Weyant (swimming), Mabel Zavaros (swimming)
- Charla Echols (2021 & 2022) and Emma Weyant (2024) earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors
- Brian Johnson, Florida's first to win the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award (2012), returned after his MLB career to finish his degree
- Nine receive master's or doctorate degrees this weekend – Carly Briggs (tennis), Daniel Cross (football), Charla Echols (softball), Marina Escobar (golf), Sarah Falk (lacrosse), Hannah Heller (lacrosse), Jack May (basketball), Maria Pansini (lacrosse), Payton Richards (gymnastics)
- Thirteen graduate with honors.
