Thursday, January 16, 2025 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - There are exactly three weeks left until the first pitch of the 2025 season and it's time introduce our sixth newcomer in our Meet the Gators series: Katelynn "Red" Oxley.
Oxley is a freshman right-handed pitcher from Bartow, Fla., who will wear No. 39 for the Orange & Blue.
Named the 2023 Florida Gatorade Player of the Year, Oxley became the 12th signee in program history to win the prestigious honor.
She joins four current Gators who have also won the award in their respective states: Ava Brown (Texas), Jocelyn Erickson and Rylee Holtorf (Arizona) and Keagan Rothrock (Indiana).
A two-way player, Oxley was elite at the plate and in the circle during her high school career.
She held a .39 ERA at Bartow in 537 innings pitched with 1,158 strikeouts and a 77-6 record. She tossed 46 complete games and 30 shutouts.
At the dish, Oxley batted .416 (133-for-320) with 101 RBI, 26 doubles, six triples and six home runs.
She helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a FHSAA 6A State Championship in 2023.
Oxley is majoring in applied physiology and kinesiology.
