Friday, January 24, 2025 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The countdown to Opening Day 2025 is less than two weeks away and we'd like to introduce Gabi Comia, the seventh newcomer in our Meet the Gators series.
Comia is a freshman infielder from St. John, Ind., who will wear No. 10 for the Gators.
She's the sixth signee in program history from Indiana and is one of two current Gators, including Keagan Rothrock (Whiteland), from the Hoosier State.
A two-sport athlete at Hanover Central High School, she excelled at both softball and basketball, earning the title of the Northwest Indiana Times Female Athlete of the Year in 2023.
Ranked as the No. 3 softball player in the Class of 2024 by Max Preps, Comia held a career .627 batting average (160-for-255) in three seasons, tallying 118 runs, 72 RBI, 10 home runs, 27 doubles and and 11 triples.
A four-year starter on the basketball court, she averaged 6.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.9 assists in 82 games.
On the travel ball circuit, Comia played for Beverly Bandits-Conroy.
She comes from a family of athletes. Her brother Jared and cousin Branden both played baseball at Illinois.
Her mom played softball at South Suburban in Illinois and her dad played baseball at the University of Dubuque in Iowa.
Comia's major is currently undecided.
