Thursday, January 9, 2025 | Softball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The countdown to Opening Day 2025 is down to 28 days and it's time to introduce our fifth newcomer in Our Meet the Gators series: Kara Hammock.
Hammock, a senior right-handed pitcher who transferred from UNCW, will use her last year of eligibility at Florida. She will wear No. 18 for the Gators this season.
A three-time All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) selection, Hammock was a workhorse for the Seahawks, leading the team in innings pitched the last two seasons.
The Mechanicsville, Va., native holds a 1.80 career ERA over 372.2 innings pitched with a .231 opposing batting average. She holds a career record of 39-19 with 33 complete-games, 10 shutouts, four saves and 267 strikeouts compared to just 91 walks.
Last season, Hammock secured three complete-game victories in the CAA Tournament, earning a spot on the CAA All-Tournament Team and was named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
She allowed just two earned runs in 25 innings of work to help UNCW claim the CAA Tournament Championship for the second time in three years.
Hammock is pursing her bachelor's degree in education studies with plans to attend graduate school for sports management.
