
Gators win Williams Cup

Florida finished 15-under and won the event by 12 shots as Luke Poulter and Zack Swanwick tied for 3rd.
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Florida men's golf won the Williams Cup finishing 15-under and by 12-shots with Luke Poulter and Zack Swanwick finishing T3 at Eagle Point Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Gators went wire-to-wire and were one of two teams (Texas, -3) to finish under par through 54-holes as the victory is the 33rd tournament title all-time under head coach J.C. Deacon in 12 seasons.
Five Gators placed in the top-17 led by Poulter and Swanwick, who finished with a 54-hole score of 211 (-5). The finish and tournament score were career-bests for the sophomore Swanwick. In three fall events, Poulter was two top-9 finishes.
Senior Parker Bell had the next best finish by a Gator in a tie for 12th at +1. Across the last two tournaments he has finished T8 and T12.
Both Matthew Kress and Trevor Gutschewski each tied for 17th. Gutschewski's finish was his season-best in his second career event and shot 72 (E), bouncing back from a +3 mark in his first three holes.
Jack Turner (+5) rounded out the lineup in T27, only his fifth finish outside the top-25 in 24 career stoke play tournaments.
Freshman Parker Severs (+8), competing as an individual, placed T43.
