Skye Blakely Fourth in World Championships Uneven Bars Final

JAKARTA, Indonesia — University of Florida sophomore Skye Blakely delivered a strong performance to place fourth on the uneven bars at the World Championships today at the Indonesia Arena.
Opening the bars final as the first competitor, Blakely posted a 14.333 for her clean and confident routine. Kaylia Nemour of Algeria claimed gold with a 15.566, while Angelina Melnikova of Russia and Fanyuwei Yang of China shared silver with matching scores of 14.50.
Blakely's return to the sport's biggest stage marks a remarkable comeback. An Achilles tear suffered during the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials sidelined her from the Olympic roster. Just 199 days later, she returned to competition in the Gators' 2025 season opener, performing on uneven bars and continuing to excel throughout the NCAA campaign.
Her momentum carried into the U.S. Championships, where she captured the uneven bars title and silver on balance beam. This year's appearance was Blakely's third World Championships, having helped Team USA secure back-to-back team gold medals in 2022 and 2023.
In other women's event finals today, Melnikova also claimed vault gold (14.466), followed by Lia-Monica Fontaine of Canada (14.033) and Arkansas sophomore Joscelyn Roberson of the U.S. (13.983), who earned bronze.
The World Championships event finals continue tomorrow with balance beam and floor exercise competition. U.S.'s Dulcy Caylor advanced to both beam and floor finals. Blakely is the first alternate for beam and would move into her second Worlds beam final if any of the eight qualifiers are unable to compete. Competition begins Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3 a.m. ET.
