GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two-time national champion head coach Urban Meyer will be inducted into the University of Florida Football's Ring of Honor during the 2026 season, the school announced on Saturday.
Meyer will join Wilber Marshall, Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Tim Tebow, Danny Wuerffel and Jack Youngblood in the team's Ring of Honor in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The date of his induction will be announced at a later time.
Tebow was the most recent inductee on Oct. 6, 2018, while Marshall was inducted on Sept. 29, 2007. The other four members were part of the original unveiling on Sept. 30, 2006 as part of the 100-year Celebration of Gator Football.
"I am truly honored and humbled to be selected for the Florida Football Ring of Honor," Meyer remarked. "My time at Florida holds so many special memories for me and my family. Everything we accomplished was the result of an extraordinary coaching staff who recruited exceptional players and were supported every day by the University, the Athletic Department, and the entire Gator Nation. I want to thank Dr. Bernie Machen and Jeremy Foley for bringing us to Gainesville and for embracing our family and our staff from the very beginning. There is nothing like game day in The Swamp—the energy of 90,000 fans behind you, pushing and willing you to victory.
"The championships were certainly special, but the bonds forged with our players, staff, and countless members of Gator Nation will last a lifetime. I am grateful to have been part of Florida's storied football tradition, and I want to thank Gator Nation for the passion and pride you continue to bring to this program. This recognition means more to me and my family than words can express. Go Gators."
Meyer's future induction into the Ring of Honor was announced during his on-campus salute on Saturday for being named a member of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame. The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 9.
Meyer was the head coach for the Gators from 2005-10, posting an overall record of 65-15 and a SEC mark of 36-12. In six seasons, Meyer guided the Gators to a pair of national championships (2006 and 2008), two Southeastern Conference Championships, three SEC Eastern Division crowns and six-straight January bowl games, including three BCS bowl games.
He was named the All-American Football Foundation Coach of the Year in 2008 and his overall winning percentage of .813 ranks second all-time in program history. Also, during his time in Gainesville, Gators earned 57 All-America honors and 113 All-SEC accolades. Tim Tebow also won the Heisman Trophy under Meyer in 2007.
Meyer became the first coach in the history of the Football Bowl Subdivision to post consecutive 13-win seasons (2008 and 2009). He guided the 2008 and 2009 team to a school-record 22 game winning streak, the fourth-longest in the history of the SEC and the longest in the league in 15 years. Between Oct. 4, 2008 and Oct. 2, 2010, his teams won 16-straight SEC games, the second-longest in school history.
Meyer was 11-4 (.733) against top-10 teams at UF and his Gator teams were ranked at one point in 89-consecutive polls, including 67 weeks in the top 10 and 16 weeks at No. 1. At the Swamp under Meyer, the Gators posted a record of 36-5 (.878). Against rivals Georgia, LSU and Florida State, the Gators earned a mark of 13-5 in six seasons under Meyer.
