More Final Four Floor for UF Practice Gym

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The walls in the men's gymnasium inside the Hugh Hathcock Basketball Complex are awfully crowded ... but there's always enough room (and creative reconfiguring) for more life-size Final Four memorabilia
Make that six mock floors, complete with their respective Final Four logos, now hanging above the Florida Gators' practice court, with representation of the 2025 run to San Antonio – and the program's third NCAA championship – wedged into the mix by workers this week.
"We're incredibly proud to bring more hardware into our practice facility," UF coach Todd Golden said Friday.
The San Antonio floor, with its colorful mission and fiesta-inspired themes, joined replica floors from the Gators' previous Final Four trips to Charlotte (1994), Indianapolis (2000 and 2006), Atlanta (2007) and North Texas (2014).
The new addition was posted on the right side of the north wall, while the existing 2014 floor was moved to the left side. Two large posters, with images of the Rowdy Reptiles and acknowledging the previous NCAA title-winning teams, were taken down and will be replaced by a trio of national championship banners hung in the middle of the same wall.
The cut-outs, with the exception of the 2007 piece, are not chunks from actual floors played on at the Final Four. UF did purchase the '07 floor and originally sold pieces as souvenirs, but saved half after hatching the idea of putting the collection of floors on display in the practice facility. UF also purchased the 2006 Final Four floor from the Indy Sports Corp, but did so to replace the aged-out floor at the O'Connell Center. The Gators played their men's and women's games on it for more than a decade before it needed to be replaced.
The '94, '00, '06, '14 and now '25 pieces are merely replica center courts of the originals that were ordered specially made by the University Athletic Association.
And they're all gorgeous.
Especially the newest one.
"The floors on the wall remind us of all the great success that has created the history, tradition and success of this program," Golden said. "To be able to add to that after three years is really special – and we hope to add some more in the future."
