Lily Hayes Named Southeast Region Freshman of the Year; Five Gators Earn All-Region Honors

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday that Lily Hayes was named the Southeast Region Freshman of the Year, as the libero, Jordyn Byrd, Jaela Auguste, Alec Rothe and Alexis Stucky all represented the University of Florida on the All-Southeast Region First Team.
The freshman libero claimed the program's seventh Freshman of the Year honor, with Florida taking the honor in back-to-back seasons. It marks the first-career All-Region accolade for Hayes and adds to her SEC All-Freshmen Team honor that she earned on Nov. 19. She became the first Florida freshman since 2006 to open the season in the libero jersey and anchored the Gators' backcourt with a team-high 391 digs (3.62/set). The Tampa, Fla. native led Florida in digs 19 times and finished in double digits defensively in 21 matches, including four with 20 or more.
Rothe earns her first 2025 postseason and AVCA accolade of her career. The middle blocker started in all 28 matches for the Gators and totaled a team-high 111.0 blocks, finishing with 98 block assists and 13 solo. The Dublin, Ohio native recorded seven double-digit scoring performances and finished with a career-best .636 hitting clip against Norfolk State on Aug. 31. She registered .500-plus matches versus Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Georgia, while hitting between .300-.399 nine times and .400-.499 seven times.
The honor marks Byrd's first AVCA postseason award in her debut season. The redshirt sophomore led Florida's offense 23 times during the regular season as well as 19 times in points. The 6-4 outside hitter finish with a team-high 425 kills (3.97/set) and in points with 457.5 (4.28/set). The Sarasota, Florida, native registered double-digit kills in 25 of the Gators' 28 regular-season matches, including five showings with 20 or more.
Stucky tallies her fourth AVCA postseason accolade, while Auguste earns her third.
After officially working her way back to full strength following a torn ACL in 2023, the Laramie, Wyoming native dished out 1,062 assists this season to average 10.31 per set, while adding 249, 73 kills, 48 blocks and 22 aces. The 6-2 setter has recorded 14 double-doubles and stands as the only player in the conference with a triple-double after having 42 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills against Auburn on Oct. 3.
Auguste led the team in blocks 14 times, hitting percentage 12 times, aces eight times, points seven times and kills once. When having at least 10 hitting attempts, she's hit .300 or better 19 times, including a career-best .722 clip (14-5-28) at Georgia on Oct. 31. Overall, Auguste has registered a hitting percentage between .300-.399 eight times, .400-.499 five times, .500-.599 four times and twice at .600 or higher.
