Gators Stand Out on Day One of USATF Championships

Claire Bryant punches her ticket to Tokyo, as Team USA selections continue.
EUGENE, Ore. - Four former Gators made their mark in Track Town on day one of the USATF Championships.
Claire Bryant claimed a spot on Team USA after her 6.97m mark in the long jump. Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Bryant secured second place, earning a ticket to Tokyo where she will compete at the World Championships from September 13–21.
2022 NCAA Champion Anna Hall currently leads the heptathlon at the end of day one, with a total of 4,097 points after four events. Hall started the day strong with a 13.12 second mark in the 100m hurdles, earning 1,106 points and placing third in the event. She then took the lead in the high jump after clearing 1.90m, again scoring 1,106 points. Hall's lead expanded with a top performance in the shot put, throwing 15.02 meters for 862 points and a new personal best. She capped off the first day with the fastest 200m time of 23.56 seconds, earning herself another 1,023 points. Hall holds the top of the leaderboard heading into the final three events on day two; the long jump, javelin throw, and 800m.
Pjai Austin delivered a strong performance in the 100m preliminaries, clocking 10.17 seconds to finish third in Heat 1. Austin will return to the track on Aug. 1 to compete in the 100m semi-finals.
Jasmine Moore fell just short of a top-three finish needed to qualify for Team USA in the long jump. Moore will compete in the triple jump on day three for another opportunity to punch her ticket to the World Championships.
