No. 4 Gators Fall to No. 19 Wolverines 12-10 in Season Opener

Frannie Hahn led the Gators with four points and Hamilton Clark added a hat-trick
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4 Florida Lacrosse team (0-1) fell to No. 19 Michigan (1-1) in their season opener at home on Friday afternoon
UF started off hot, scoring the first three goals of the game, but Michigan quickly tied it up before the end of the first quarter. The Gators were able to tie the game up at 10-10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but Michigan's two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game were enough to hold off Florida.
Six Gators scored, led by Clark Hamilton with a hat-trick, followed by Kaitlyn Davies and Boo DeWitt with two and Gabby Greene, Frannie Hahn and Gabbi Koury with one each. Hahn added three assist as Davies added one. Graduate Paige Crowther came into the game at the beginning of second half and registered a team high five saves.
The Wolverines were led Calli Norris who scored three goals and Ceci Stein, Emma Bradbury and Brynne Grant, who each had two goals.
UF was able to go 4-of-7 on free positions and were able to hold Michigan scoreless on free positions (0-for-4). The save battle was even, with both teams having six saves.

How It Happened
First Quarter
- The Gators struck first with a Clark Hamilton goal at 13:00 in the first quarter. UF would add two more goals by Frannie Hahn (12:10) and Boo DeWitt (6:59) hold a 3-0 lead just past the half way mark of the first quarter.
- The Wolverines would tie the game at 3-3 with three goals in less than two minutes from Brynne Grant (1-3) and Calli Norris (4:49, 3:51).
- The teams would go into the first quarter break tied at 4-4 after a UF goal from Gabbi Koury (1:51) and a Michigan goal from Ava Class (0:29).
Second Quarter
- Gabby Greene scored off a Frannie Hahn assist at 13:34 after a Michigan goal to tie the game at 5-5. The Wolverines would score three unassisted to take and 8-5 lead.
- Both squads put one in the back of the net in the final 6 minutes of the first half and the Gators were down 9-6 going into the break.
Third Quarter
- The third quarter only saw three goals, two of which were by the Gators. Clark Hamilton notched her second of the game at 9:42.
- Michigan would respond at 8:48 but Boo DeWitt would cut the lead to two with her second of the game at 7:01 and make it 10-8.
Fourth Quarter
- The Gators would tie the game in the first 70 second of the final frame with Kaitlyn Davies scoring from a free position and Clark Hamilton notching a hat trick with her third goal at 13:50 from a Frannie Hahn assist.
- The Wolverines would respond at 9:19 to retake the lead and would add another at 3:22 to win 12-10

- Eight players made their Gator debut today with as Freshmen Autumn Blair, Allison Fling, Caroline Hoskins, Alexa Stone and Maya Soskin and Graduates Paige Crowther, Boo DeWitt and Ava Kristynik made their Gator debuts.
- Boo DeWitt score her first goal as a Gator
- UF now moves to 4-1 all-time against Michigan and 10-7 all time in season openers.
- This snaps the Gators' eight game home winning streak.
- Clark Hamilton notched her 12th career hat trick.
