No. 7 Gators Use 7 Goal Third Quarter to Roll Past Quakers 18-9

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After finding themselves down by one at halftime, the No. 7/8 Gators scored seven goals in the third period while holding Penn to one on their way to a 18-9 win at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gators were down as many as four during the second quarter before scoring three in final 3:09 of the first half to be down 7-6 at the break. Florida would come out with the momentum in the second half and use a 7-1 third quartet surge ahead of Penn, and get a lead that they would hold on to.
Florida was led by Clark Hamilton with five goals as Gabby Greene (4 G) and Frannie Hahn (3 G/1 A) each had four points and Gabbi Koury had her third straight game with a hat trick. Hamilton's second goal of the day gave her 100 points in her career. Senior defender Theresa Bragg anchored the defense for the Gators and caused a career-high five turnovers.
Penn was led by Lela Green who recorded a hat trick and Catherine Berkery (1 G, 1 A) and Regan O'Brien (2 G) who each had two points.

FIRST QUARTER (Quakers 3, Gators 2)
- Penn would strike first, with Eden Welch scoring the opening goal at 12:56 in the first quarter off a Millie Bartlett assist.
- The Gators would respond with goals from Clark Hamilton and Gabby Greene before two goals from Regan O'Brien for Penn would give the Quakers a 3-2 lead going into the second quarter
SECOND QUARTER (Quakers 7, Gators 6)
- The Gators would tie the game at 3-3 with a goal from Gabbi Koury at 12:54 before Penn would go on a four-goal run.
- Penn's four-goal run, which consisted of goals from Mar Zaremba (12:19), Avery Le (9:49), Catherine Berkery (8:33), and Lela Greene (7:19), would give them a 7-3 lead.
- The Orange and Blue would capitalize off a unreleaseable yellow card on Penn's Natasha Yajadda, getting two woman-up goals from Clark Hamilton (3:35) and Boo DeWitt (3:09).
- Florida would add another woman-up goal from Gabbi Koury at 1:21 after a Penn green card on Lellie King, to go into the break down one.
THIRD QUARTER (Gators 13, Quakers 8)
- The Gators would get a goal from Kaitlyn Davies in the first ten seconds of the third quarter to tie the game at 7-7.
- The game would remain tied at 8-8 after a goal from Caroline Hoskins at 13:55 and a Lela Green goal for Penn at 13:06.
- Florida would blow the game wide open after five goal run, with two goals from Gabby Greene (12:51, 10:52), and goals from Clark Hamilton (7:47), Frannie Hahn (5:21), and Gabbi Koury (2:59), to take a 13-8 lead in the final 15 minutes.
FOURTH QUARTER (Gators 18, Quakers 9)
- The Gators would pick up where they left off in the third quarter, scoring five of the six goals in the fourth quarter.
- Clark Hamilton (14:21, 7:14) and Frannie Hahn (9:39, 5:08) would score two as Gabby Greene added her fourth of the game for the Gators.
- Penn would get their final goal from Lela Greene at 1:52.
Key Notes
- Sophomore Clark Hamilton surpassed the 100-point mark in her career with her second goal of the game. She becomes the 27th member of the 100-point club in Florida Lacrosse history and joins teammate Frannie Hahn, who also joined the 100point club this season, getting her 100th point against Loyola.
- The two goals given up in the second half is the least amount given up by the Gators in a half this season, and this is the second straight game that the Gators have held their opponent under 10 goals. This is also the sixth game that the Gators have held their opponent under five goals in the second half.
- The 19 shots and 13 shots on goal from Penn are the lowest number of shots and shots on goal given up by the Gators this season.
- Three Gators broke career highs against Penn. Gabby Greene's five goals broke her career high for goals and points, both of which were previously three. Theresa Bragg's five caused turnovers broker her previous career high of four, and it the 13th time a player has caused five turnovers in a game. Jenny Woodings tallied seven draw controls, which was more than her previous career of five, which she set this season against Mercer.
- The Gators where once again perfect in the clear against Penn, which is their second straight game going perfect on the clear, and the fifth game this season where they have perfect when clearing the ball.
- This is the first game this season where the Gators have not made a substitution at the goalie position, as freshman Maya Soskin played the whole 60 minutes
