Florida is four shots inside the top-8 match play cut scheduled for tomorrow.
BELLEAIR, Fla. – The No. 3 Florida women's golf team turned in a 2-under 278 performance in round two of the 2026 SEC Championship to move to 5-under through 36-holes on Saturday at Pelican Golf Club. The Gators are in fourth-place and four shots inside the top-8 match play cut tomorrow.
Following tomorrow's final round of stroke play, the top-8 teams advance to single-elimination match play with quarterfinals and semifinals scheduled for Monday with coverage on SECN+ at 3 p.m. followed by the finals on Tuesday on SECN at 10 a.m.
Tomorrow's final round will be a battle for the eight match play spots as only seven strokes separate teams in second to tenth place, including a three-way tie for that eighth and final advancing position. Florida aims to reach match play for the sixth time in the eight addition of match play at the SEC Championship.
Florida is on pace to finish under-par for 54-holes in stroke play, which would be only the fourth time in program history – 2019 (-1), 2021 (-11) & 2017 (-22). The round of 278 (-2) marked back-to-back under par at the SEC Championship since round one (-4) and two (-5) in 2019.
Additionally, the low round is the tenth consecutive under par and the 16th out of 28 total rounds this season.
Junior Paula Francisco continued to lead the Gators. She shot a round two of 68 (-2), which featured a bogey-free and 3-under back nine. The round marked her eight straight in the red and team-high 15th. Francisco is tied for 4th and three shots back of leader Mary Miller (-8) of Ole Miss. Francisco looks to become the eighth Gator (10th time overall) in program history to win the SEC Individual Championship and first since Maria Torres in 2016.
Gainesville native and freshman Katelyn Huber also carded a low round with a 69 (-1). The round was her ninth under par of the season. Her round also featured an eagle on the par5 seventh (495 yards).
Elaine Widjaja was stayed once again. She turned in her second straight round of 70 (E) and is tied for 23rd with both Huber and Megan Propeck.
Post Round Quotes - Head Coach Emily Glaser
On Paula Francisco in contention to win SEC Championship tomorrow...
"I think that the great thing about Paula's continued progression is that she's going to play her way into the mix of things often. I think she has now the discipline to know that she's got to go out there and just play her game and kind of see what happens. So I would be thrilled for her if it turns out, but I know either way, she's going to focus on her process and the job she needs to do tomorrow."
On the message to team for battle tomorrow for match play...
"We got to worry about ourselves tomorrow and focus on playing free and shooting a good round of golf. You can't play defense out there, and so we can't control what anyone else does good or bad. We just got to focus on ourselves and do the things that have helped us have success up until this point, and let the rest take care of itself."
