Paula Francisco (-4) is tied for the individual lead as Florida (-6) owns a three-shot advantage.
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The No. 7 Florida women's golf team owns a three-shot lead, with senior Paula Francisco tied for the individual lead after the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship on Friday. Through 72 holes this season, Florida has led in every round, while a Gator has held a share of the individual lead in three of the four rounds.
UF's opening-round 6-under marked its fourth consecutive under-par round this season, joining marks of 8-under, 7-under and 1-under.
Francisco began her round with an eagle on the par-4, 392-yard first hole. She added three birdies across her front nine for a 4-under start and finished with a 67 (-4) to earn a share of the individual lead.
Three of Florida's counting rounds were under par, including Katelyn Huber (69, -2) and Elaine Widjaja (70, -1). Huber's under-par round was her third of the season, tied for the team high. Huber opened with a 1-under, bogey-free front nine, while Widjaja carded a 2-under, bogey-free back nine. Huber is tied for sixth, while Widjaja is in T12.
The next two Gators in the lineup finished within one shot of each other, with Jessica Guiser tied for 30th at 1-over and Addison Klonowski tied for 39th at 2-over.
Making her collegiate debut, Perla Sól Sigurbrandsdóttir carded a low round to begin her Gator career. The transfer from LSU shot a 69 (-2) and sits tied for sixth.
Florida tees off the second round tomorrow at 11:10 a.m.
