The Gator Football team started the new millennium off right in 2000 with another 10 win season and their sixth SEC Championship. After beating Auburn 38-7 in the regular season, the Gators soundly defeated them once again in the Georgia Dome 28-6 earning them a bid to play in the Sugar Bowl for the second straight year.
