2000 SEC Champions

The Gator Football team started the new millennium off right in 2000 with another 10 win season and their sixth SEC Championship. After beating Auburn 38-7 in the regular season, the Gators soundly defeated them once again in the Georgia Dome 28-6 earning them a bid to play in the Sugar Bowl for the second straight year.   • Young players led the way once again for the Gators as Freshman quarterback Rex Grossman completed 61.8% of his passes for 1866 yards and 21 touchdowns, and Freshman receiver Jabar Gaffney caught 71 passes for 1184 yards and 14 touchdowns.
