2025 New Student-Athlete Orientation
The Otis Hawkins Center for Academic and Personal Excellence would like to congratulate and welcome you to the Gator family! In preparation for your arrival on campus, we ask that you complete each step below to make your transition to UF as smooth as possible. We realize that by the time you navigate to this website you may have already completed some or all of these steps. Once you have completed these 4 steps, please use the link at the bottom of the page to log into the Orientation Portal.
Step 1 – Apply to the University of Florida
For freshmen:
Go to admissions.ufl.edu/apply/freshman and under “How to Apply”, scroll down until you get to "STEPS TO APPLY". Click on the second step, "Complete all sections of the application" to expand the menu, then click the blue "COMMON APP" button. On the next page, select the white "Apply for first-year" button.
If this is your first time in the application, you will need to click the “create an account” hyperlink. Select “First year student” then fill in all required fields before selecting the “Create Account” button at the bottom of the page. Please make sure after completing the profile to add "University of Florida" under the "My Colleges" tab. After adding UF, click on UF and finish the Supplemental Questions, Recommenders and FERPA, and Review and Submit sections.
For transfers:
Go to admissions.ufl.edu and scroll down to select "Transfer". Next, under “How to Apply” click the blue “TRANSFER APP” button and then "Create Your Account" hyperlink. Follow the steps to complete the application. If you are not able to select your desired term or major, please select whatever you can and submit the application. The application is able to be edited by the admissions department on the back end so just communicate the issue with your coach or advisor.
November 1 is the traditional admissions deadline for the University of Florida. You must complete the application by this date in order to be considered for any academic scholarship opportunities from the university.
After submitting the application online, you can pay the $30 application fee using a credit card. This section of the application will ask questions that may provide select students with a waiver of this application fee.
Once you have completed the application process, you will receive an email that prompts you to create a UF MyApplications credential. This is an email and password you will need to remember in order to log into my.admissions.ufl.edu/account/login where you can check the status of your application and obtain your UF ID number. This is an 8-digit number that you should record in a safe place, you will need this number in order to access the Student-Athlete Orientation Portal.
Step 2 – Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center
Go to NCAA's Eligibility Center and under the “Want to Compete at an NCAA School?” heading, click the blue “Option 3 Academic and Amateurism Certification Account” button. Next, select blue “Create an account” button. Once you enter your email address, you will be sent instructions on how to complete your registration.
Step 3 – Send official transcripts to the NCAA Eligibility Center
Request an official copy of your transcript to be sent to the Eligibility Center from your high school/college. The Eligibility Center requires an official transcript from each institution attended, including any dual enrollment work, transfer schools, online coursework, etc.

Step 4 – Send official transcripts and test scores to the University of Florida
Request an official copy of your transcript to be sent to the University of Florida from your high school/college. We must have an official transcript from each institution attended, including any dual enrollment work, transfer schools, online coursework, etc.

If applying as a freshman or transfer student with less than 60 college credits, be sure to submit test scores from the SAT or the ACT from the testing agency. The following is information for each testing agency:

If you are registering for a future test, enter UF’s and the Eligibility Center’s codes during registration for your score to be sent without incurring an extra cost.
Once you have completed the above steps you will be able to log into the Orientation Portal to continue the process of completing the required paperwork and receive important details concerning your orientation session.
