2003-04 Standings & Rankings

Florida Gators Sports at a Glance

  • Runner-up finishes by four teams should place the University of Florida athletic program sixth overall in the 2003-04 Sports Academy Directors' Cup competition. The national all-sports competition award is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), United States Sports Academy and USA Today. The finish marks Florida's 21st consecutive position among the nation's top-10 programs. Florida and UCLA are the only schools to finish in the top 10 in national all-sports rankings every year since 1983-84.
  • A program-record total of 12 Gator athletic teams finished in the top-10 of their respective sports in 2003-04, matching the record set in the 1992-93 season and equaled in 2001-02 when 12 teams also posted top-10 finishes. Four Gator teams led UF in 2003-04 with runner-up finishes - volleyball, women's indor track & field, men's indor track & field and men's outdoor track & field. Florida's other top-10 teams in 2003-04 NCAA competition include: women's swimming & diving (4th), gymnastics (5th), women's outdoor track & field (5th), soccer (T5th), men's swimming & diving (6th), men's golf (T6th), baseball (T9th), and men's tennis (T9th).
  • Florida also was successful away from the athletic arena in 2003-04, earning a league-high 165 SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades in league championship sponsored sports. Four UF student-athletes also earned spots on CoSIDA Academic All-America teams in 2003-04, giving the Gators 54 Academic All-Americans since 1992.
